Toddler bed transition with My Green Mattress

The big day has arrived. Our baby transitioned to a “big girl” bed. The crib to bed transition is a natural and inevitable one of toddlerhood but never-the-less it is very bittersweet. There are so many ways to do this transition (toddler bed, twin bed or Montessori type bed, etc.) but ultimately we decided to put Logan in a twin sized bed. For us, this was a longterm play — knowing that a twin bed would last her much longer! She also has so many stuffed animals that she needed the room! There’s no right answer in terms of which bed to choose; you just need to consider which works best for your toddler and your family.

Hiking with babies and toddlers

During Covid-19, a lot of families are turning to the outdoors for a much-needed escape. Outdoor activities with little ones can present unique challenges but making the extra effort is incredibly rewarding and fun. And you’re sure to create long-lasting memories for years to come. Going out into nature with your little ones lets you see familiar places through new eyes— because everything is so NEW to them. How freakin’ awesome!

Exclusive Pumping: My Journey

Let me kick this off by saying FED IS BEST. It doesn’t matter HOW a babe is fed. A full baby is a happy baby and that is ALL that matters. You’re doing great mama.

Q&A with Serenity Sleepers

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been working with Kelley from Serenity Sleepers for the last month to get Logan better rest. She previously was micro-napping (20-30min naps) and wasn’t sleeping through the night. Desperate for sleep myself, we contacted Kelley and got started right away.

Our 4th Trimester

As I sit here and write this blog post, I’m on the verge of tears. I just finished walking Logan and put her down for a nap. Honest, this may be my most vulnerable blog post yet — I’m putting myself out there in a real, raw and honest way. Why am I doing that? Because sometimes it’s nice to just write it down. For me sometimes it feels therapeutic. And because I know someone out there resonates with me and maybe this post makes them feel a little less alone. The first few months can feel isolating. Especially if you’re far from friends and family like I am.

Managing colic with Babocush

If you’ve been following along over on Instagram, you know that Logan has been an extra fussy baby. Since birth, she’s had feeding issues, which ultimately resulted in belly issues too. This swirl of circumstances has made her a little colicky. Desperate to try all the things, I think we’ve finally found our groove with her as best we can. She’s not completely fuss-free (b/c what baby actually is!?) but she’s one thousand times better.

Labor & Postpartum Recovery

I recently answered a few questions on my Instagram stories about labor and postpartum recovery. One of the topics requires an awful lot of explanation so I thought why not write a detailed blog post on my thoughts.

My birth journey

As many of you may know, I was very passionate about having a natural birth with Logan. When I envisioned giving birth, it was just how I always pictured it. I wanted a more peaceful environment vs. a hospital, which to me, felt a little more sterile and uncomfortable. My overall goal was to avoid as many interventions as possible to eliminate risks and side effects and I knew that aiming for a natural birth would be a step in the right direction.
