Y is for Yoga Rocks the Park

I’ve seen pop-up yoga all over Instagram lately. I had serious FOMO when I saw my friends practicing at Nelson-Atkins on the lawn so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered Yoga Rocks the Park. These local events feature 75-minute outdoor yoga classes (beginners welcome) featuring Kansas City’s most inspiring local and national yoga teachers. All sessions are accompanied by a DJ or live music. Each event provides a unique opportunity to support local businesses within the KC community.

I attended their free kick-off event on Sunday with my mom for Mother’s Day. (Thanks Athleta KC!) The rain held off and the event was held at Liberty Memorial at 10am. We got there early to check-in and check out the local vendors. I got my mom an event t-shirt and I snagged a cute top from Namastamy. The class was led by Lauren Leduc (from Pop-Up Yoga KC) with music by DJ Lane. It was so fun – our moms really enjoyed getting stretchy. We got to be playful and do some cartwheels! I think there were about 200 people in attendance. The only feedback I have is that it felt a little spread out. I wish we all could have snuggled in a little to amp up the energy.

If you missed this one, don’t worry there are more to come. See below for full schedule.
