Since early August, I’ve been partnering with Garmin and came on board as an official ambassador. This means I will get to test and feature some of their watches and I’ll continue to use my Vivoactive HR. You may have seen some shots of my Garmin here & here.
I recently partnered with Garmin to test their latest “entry level” running watch. We got up before sunrise and tested the sleek new Forerunner 35. The watch was unveiled this week so I am super excited to finally be able to chat about it with you guys.
The Forerunner 35 is super light weight and comes in four colors; black, limelight, frost blue and white. It does all the basics: GPS to track pace, distance and speed when running or biking and it doubles as a fitness tracker and basic smartwatch (not touch screen though). The wrist-based heart rate monitor is also a noticeable feature that is super handy.
The watch will also measure steps, distance, calories burned, intensity minutes and sleep throughout the day. When connected to your iPhone or Android it can display notifications and music controls.
The Forerunner 35 also has a virtual pacer (a feature I like!) that alerts you when you fall behind a set target pace. There are also other sports profiles like treadmill running, walking and general cardio (aside from biking and running). The battery is said to last up to 9 days and is waterproof up to 50 meters. The watch automatically uploads your data to Garmin Connect. Boom!
This watch is said to be available for purchase ($199.99) here by the end of September, 2016. (Fingers crossed.)
On another note, I just signed up for the Lexus LaceUp Run Series presented by Saucony. I registered for the Half at Surfers Point. I’m super pumped for the nice weather and scenic course along the beach. This will be the perfect time to test and share new technology to help my training. Follow my Garmin adventures over on my Instagram.
Anyone else excited for the new Forerunner 35 or training for a race this fall?
