If you follow me on Instagram, it’s no secret that I just moved to the Rose City (Portland). It has been one crazy ride but I’m finally here, almost settled in and enjoying sweaty adventures via ClassPass until I figure out my next career move. A few days ago, I stumbled upon Modo Yoga on the east side of town after a bootcamp class near the area. I was searching for juice but found yogi heaven.

To date, this is the most gorgeous yoga lobby I’ve ever set eyes on. Admit-ably, it might be the plants that got me gushing about this spot — seriously, the greenery is so beautiful. I immediately got plant envy. (I found out they got ’em at Portland Nursery. I’ll be headed that way for my new fig tree soon! Thanks for the tip.) Either way I could totally enjoy Savasana on that blue couch.

The Modo Yoga philosophy is built on their 7 pillars. Be healthy, be accessible, live green, community support, reach out, live to learn and be peace. The studio is built from salvaged materials and has many green features. They offer free mat rental for those who walk or bike to commute to class. You can also rent for a small fee.

The schedule offers variations of Hatha, Vinyasa, Power Flow, Yang Yin and Yin. I attended Modo Flow, which is an accessible vinyasa yoga style, emphasizing the synergy between breath and movement to help deepen your practice. The room was lightly heated with humidity control. They also have Karma classes on the schedule, which are donation based. Overall, I really enjoyed my practice + experience and can’t wait to come back and try Power Flow.

After my workout, I headed over to Greenleaf Juicing Co. which Modo conveniently shares the space with. This organic juice bar has several menu items to choose from. Have your pick  between juices, smoothies, acai bowls, quinoa bowls, soups and more. I had the Green Solution with almond butter my first go and on my second visit I tried the Green Limeade. All around YUMS.

If you need a yoga + juice date in Portland, this is my initial lust. Namaste!
